DC elopement and party \\ Rachel + Mike

Who says you have to follow the crowd when you get married? Rachel and Mike got married at the courthouse with just their best friends on Thursday, then threw a killer party at their favorite restaurant, Levante's, to celebrate their marriage on Saturday. Couples, for your wedding, I can't say this enough: do whatever feels right. You do you! Your friends, family, and especially vendors should be happy to see your vision become a reality!

Instead of having bridesmaids, Rachel invited her favorite ladies to brunch at B Too on DC's 14th Street to start the day off right. And then -- I LOVE THIS GIRL -- went home from brunch to take a wedding day nap before kicking off the rest of the day's festivities!

Just because there wasn't a wedding party and a big flashy ceremony doesn't mean the couple didn't have some beautiful details to share. I love Rachel's ring, and I love even more that I got to nestle it in what they call the "Dr. Seuss tree" right in the front yard of their condo!

We stuck close to home and incorporated their wonderful pup, Waldo, into some portraits too. How adorable is he?

On such a gorgeous September Saturday, when home is this pretty, what else do you need? Oh, you know, maybe to just cross the street and take some more beautiful portraits in the park. Because why not?!

Then, time for the party! Rachel and Mike stepped out of their Uber into the waiting embrace of their (so excited!) families... and then a gorgeous golden hour cocktail hour whisked us all away!

I just can't get over how sweet Rachel looks there with her dad. Love!

These guys are one good looking family!

As the night went on, we had so much fun laughing and dancing. Yes, every wedding deserves a conga line, and kids in adorkable hipster glasses.

Congratulations Rachel + Mike, I could NOT be happier for you!
