Suzanne Eden Natural Makeup Chic at Take Care Shop Georgetown | Washington DC branding photography

To make it onto my personal recommended vendors list isn’t an easy feat — I abhor the idea of ever recommending someone to a friend or client and not having them reflect anything but the absolutely top-notch service and experience that I try to give to my clients. Needless to say, my preferred vendors list isn’t very long, but the vendors who manage to land a spot on it are pretty heckin’ amazing, I’ve had a vendor crush on Suzanne Eden for AGES. Suzanne is a makeup artist, and has provided makeup for literally hundreds of weddings and a laundry list of corporate and commercial clients — I can almost guarantee you’ve seen her work in print in DC media… and if you’ve spent more than .25 seconds following me, you’ve seen it in my photos.

Alana + Steve's Union Station bridal photo session | Washington DC wedding photography

Steve + Alana tied the knot in Lancaster, PA back in May, and it was a gorgeous day! But DC is an important part of their love story, and they reached out to me in August about the idea of some iconic DC wedding portraits to evoke that part of their story. Talking over many choices, we decided that Union Station -- with its grand white marble and gilt ceilings, and the Senate Gardens, were perfect. It was a gorgeous, sunny Sunday afternoon when we connected. I couldn't be happier with the result! Alana + Steve, you are stunning.

But it does take a bit of a toll, and that's why it's so important to keep pushing myself creatively to do new, better, different things with my photography. Kian is a master at "personal projects," and last night, he planned a (his words, not mine) "hipster-inspired" just-for-fun photoshoot with our friend Morri.

Professional headshots | Smart Growth America

I LOOOOOOVE a good professional headshot. Monday, I had the pleasure of working with the team at Smart Growth America to document their 2015 Local Leaders Council Policy Forum. It was a great event and we captured some great images, but my favorite part of the day was our on-the-fly decision to snap a new set of headshots for the staff members who were there.

DC business headshots: Abigail

Abigail is a good friend who I've had the opportunity to photograph as several previous points in my journey as a photographer, and I really love an opportunity to shower her with new photos, because it lets me compare to old photos of her and see how far I've come. (Thanks, Abigail!)

Abigail recently started a new job, and while she had a business headshot from me, she is rocking a shorter haircut right now, and we thought the new job occasioned a new headshot!

Social media photoshoot: Rachel

As a communications professional in the other half of my life, I'm a big believer in branding and personal branding. And, according to the New York Times, so are a growing number of my peers. Including Rachel, who was in need of a professional-level headshot for her career overseas.  And if you're going to the trouble of having a headshot done, why not have a little fun and totally crank up the awesome on your social media profiles?!
