Allie + Elliot's glamorous urban wedding at Le Meridien Arlington

Sisters, sisters... there's nothing better than falling so mutually-in-love with a bride that before her wedding even rolls around, she's telling her sister all about you! Allie and I found one another through mutual friends. At our first meeting, we bonded over the hopelessly nerdy DC zoning code update we were both working on. Little did I know I would develop a girl-crush on her! Now, I simply can't get enough of this family. Allie is everything you could possibly hope for -- besides a glorious nerd to match my own nerdiness, she's gorgeous, down-to-earth, a lover of sequins, a lover of cities and urban places, and best of all, so much fun!

She + Elliot are perfect for each other, and as soon as we'd had drinks to talk wedding photography, I was smitten. Then we did their super-DC engagement session last fall, and I started counting the minutes until their wedding. Which was also a city-lover's dream come true, at the gorgeous, light-filled Le Meridien Hotel in Rosslyn. Woo!

Okay, it's time of a the-world-is-a-small-place side story! This Le Meridien hotel is actually the site of the first DC-area wedding I was ever a part of. A coworker got married here (in the same bridal suite, even) and hired me to help the day-of with set-up, flowers, etc. This was well before I'd ever picked up a camera, but it was a lovely day and so it's been on my bucket list to document a wedding here! So Allie + Elliot's day was even MORE of a dream-come-true for me!

Blue suede shoes! Allie, you KILLED it with your wedding-day style!

These are some seriously swoon-worthly blooms. And the smelled DIVINE.

Elliot's grandfather couldn't be present on his wedding day, but Elliot kept his spirit close by wearing his watch.

Who needs a traditional wedding party when you have such amazing siblings? And that tall gorgeous blond next to the bride? That's her sister, Amy. I can't wait to be there for Amy to tie the knot herself in Baltimore next year!

Elliot's family is Jewish, so they incorporated Jewish customs throughout their day. Before the ceremony, they took a few minutes with family and witnesses to sign their ketubah, the Jewish marriage license.  It's a super-rad tradition that's actually pretty feminist in the rights and responsibilities of the husband to his wife -- worth reading up on if it's new to you!

The family built the chuppah they held the ceremony under. Love!! Oh, and I also love the wedding cinema team Allie + Eliott hired... Kian, not only an excellent boyfriend/second shooter, an amazing video pro! This is the first time we've captured a wedding with him on video and me on photography, and I loved it. Everyone, hire this man.

Could Allie BE any happier!? Be sure to look out for the moment in the wedding film. She's doing a little dance. It's the best.

Married! Time to run away into the beautiful light to kiss like fools and out-glow the sunset!!

I could stare at these two for hours. Uhoh, now I sound like a creepy stalker. I'm not, I swear!!

You guys, their reception space!! My dear planner-friend Liz from Mug of Love weddings totally enacted Allie's vision for transforming the hotel restaurant, Amuse. The individual goblet centerpieces and table names based on important places in Allie + Elliot's relationship... I just, I can't even!!

My new favorite way to open the dance floor and get everyone dancing? The hora! Usually it's done later in the night, but after the traditional dances and dinner, this was a neat twist! And so much fun.

I love Allie + Elliot's wedding highlight film (from Key In Films)! I loved learning from her sister Amy's speech, that Amy actually knew Elliot first, and there as so many great parts of the day that still photos just don't quite capture. Amy's toast actually made me tear up a little!
