Glamorous wine + gold summer camp wedding // Marcelle + Ryan // Melwood Recreation Center
Style and vision. Some people have it in all spades. And if you're really, really lucky as a wedding photographer, you'll have those people as clients. But I'd trade style and vision in any day for big hearts and kind souls. No need to for this couple -- Marcelle + Ryan had style, vision, and are the sweetest, most caring people you could ever hope to meet.
I learned at the rehearsal dinner that when they were first brainstorming wedding venues, Marcelle + Ryan loved the idea of getting married in one of their favorite places on earth -- the Adirondack Mountains. Luckily for me, they decided family and friends being nearby was more important, and settled for a retreat much closer to home -- a summer camp in Maryland!
When we met over milkshakes early this year, Marcelle described her vision to me as "Wine and gold sparkles. Glamorous summer camp. Glamping!" Her use of a wordsmash sealed the deal, and I knew I HAD to be a part of this amazing wedding. She and sweet, steadfast Ryan pulled out all of the stops to transform a lovely-but-rustic venue into a fairytale weekend-long celebration with their family and friends.
I LOVE this invitation detail! They had an artist hand-design a map of the summer camp and turned it into a postcard that they included in the invitation suite. So charming, so thoughtful, so pretty, and actually very USEFUL!
Can we talk about these flowers?! I was blown. away. An Amish family provides them -- they're the only link in the creative team credits that doesn't go to a website, because as Amish, they don't have one. But if you're in the market for gorgeous florals, don't let that stop you!!
I love when my wedding parties do a little something extra for the couple! They thought up and brought along these chalkboards... how long each of them have know the bride or groom!
Marcelle + I both did a great job of holding it together all weekend... right up to this point, she told me afterward. And me? Well, I almost always tear up a tiny bit at ceremonies. Hire me, and I'll probably cry at your wedding.
While we were soaking up the gorgeous sunset for these glam golden hour portraits, the party was kicking into gear at both the picnic pavilion and the dining hall. So much pretty! I ADORE all of the handmade and DIY details that Marcelle + Ryan prepared. It really transformed the camp!
After cake and toasts, we headed back outside to the picnic pavilion to enjoy the gorgeous night... but after the first dances and bouquet toss, we were all in for a surprise! Marcelle + Ryan's avatars -- in pinata form!! -- appeared, for the wedding party to pummel. So fun!
gratitude to the wonderful vendors & creative team
