Colorful December Vandiver Inn wedding | Sandra + Ben | Maryland wedding photography
What's even more fun to me than photographing a regular wedding? Making a weekend getaway trip out of our last wedding of 2015 to enjoy a little time away from the hustle and bustle of downtown DC! Sandra + Ben asked me to be their wedding photographer before they'd even chosen their venue, so I was delighted when they chose such a charming spot for their Sunday wedding. The Vandiver Inn is a B&B in a historic home in Havre de Grace, Maryland -- not far enough to be a bother to get to, but just far enough to feel worlds away.
Sandra suggested we stay at the Inn (she was, too, the night before), and so we drove up on Saturday, checked in to the Inn, and walked the 5-6 blocks to downtown Havre de Grace, where we had the most lovely shopping and dinner before heading home to wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for Sunday's festivities. I LOVE a relaxed wedding morning, and waking up down the hall from the bride and then having breakfast made to order certainly qualifies!
All of the rooms at the Vandiver are lovely, but my favorite is where Sandra and her lovely bridesmaids got ready. Sage green walls, a four-poster bed, a fireplace, and such gorgeous window light? Regular hotels just aren't going to cut it after this. :)
Kian headed a few minutes away to Aberdeen, where Team Groom was getting ready. I LOVE hanging out with the ladies on wedding morning... but looking at the photos of the guys getting ready, I can't help but feel a little FOMO about not having been there.
Ben is actually (small world!) the co-owner of Proteus Bikes up in College Park, and so the fantastic seating display was totally all about him. And you know me... biking, walking, and transit advocate that I am, I couldn't get enough!
December wedding... sage green venue... cranberry linens... Christmas lights and Christmas trees... it may have been 60 degrees that day, but need I say more?!
